we are not the protagonist
in this story called life, where we have to pick our acquaintances, ultimately it doesn't end with us.
when our story ends, His continues.
every one of our steps has already left a footprint, every word from our mouths has already been said, and the paths we take reflect His ultimate plan, as everything is in His hands.
so how do we measure success?
money? fame? power? family?
life is a stage, all He wants us to do is to play our part.
the success of a character reflects how well they interact with the Protagonist.
and if they know where they fit in in this play called life, and they know the Protagonist, then they succeed as a character.
isn't it amusing that we can describe someone as "being of noble character"?
and as tired as the cliché has grown to be, don't you think there's a fundamental truth in the fact that we call history His Story?
[PRETENTIOUS TONE END!]
if we're so concerned with our own lives, then we draw attention away from the real focus of this life, God.
a man can know God no more than Hamlet can know Shakespeare.
it's a quote from C.S. Lewis from before he became a Christian.
afterwards, he realised that Hamlet could never know Shakespeare unless Shakespeare wrote himself into the story. and that's basically what God did. he wrote himself into this play that we call life as the character of Jesus.
and we're side-characters that He loves enough to include in this.
so then our success in this world is not measured by the size of our house, bank account or car's engine, it's measured by how well we align ourselves with the vision of the Playwright, and how well we get to know the Protagonist.
and then suddenly you're free.
free to try your best. not to "succeed" per se, but to do what you do.
to be what you were made to be.
some could call that a lack of ambition, but who's to say being who you were made to be has to be so mediocre?
as the Bible writes, Jesus came so that we might have a life, and a life in full. knowing Jesus, tuning in to His frequency allows us to hear His plans for our lives. and He loves us, he has plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us hope and a future.
so then what are we waiting for?
in this extended period of adolescence, many of us (myself included) are waiting for this great change, waiting for our "real lives" to begin.
but again, who is to say that our real lives haven't already begun? what is stopping us from greatness in His eyes?
apathy, and irresponsibility.
"i can't be bothered doing it"
or
"someone else will do it"
and to that i say (to myself more than anyone):
if you can't be bothered living life, what will you be bothered with?
and
who else can live the life you've been given?
i honestly don't know how to finish this post.
