so here's my concept: faux dac biet.
it comes from 'pho dac biet', one of vietnam's greatest culinary delights... a beef noodle soup often referred to as "beef hofun soup" at vietnamese restaurants. but it's just not the same.
anyway 'pho' is the name of the dish itself, and 'dac biet' means special, or something to that consequence.
and faux is the french, meaning false, or an imitation (pronounced foe btw)
TANGENT: the faux hawk revolution in hairstyles is pronounced fo-hawk, so it rhymes with mo-hawk. this makes it more of a witty pun, instead of the commonly mispronunciation: "fawkes hawk"
so i figure as a vietnamese person, a lot of the time i try to be 'dac biet', to become something more than i am in the eyes of others, but i fail and end up 'faux dac biet', a fake that people see through, a cheap imitation of myself that i buy because i can't reach for 'dac biet' the way i am now.
settling for less.
and i guess that's not enough anymore, because i want real.
